Congratulations to Ali!

Ma (Ali) Bowen, a recent high school graduate from China and student in VESL this spring, won the Brooke Brummit scholarship for a noncredit ESL student planning on enrolling in credit courses at MiraCosta. Ali will take credit classes starting this summer. She even tested into English 100!

Congratulations, Ali! Best wishes for continued success in your educational pursuits -- you'll love MCC and will be a star student without a doubt!

VESL Class Spring 2009 Term 4

This term students completed a number of high-level projects. For one, students set up their own personal blogs for posting class work, using blogger.com.

Maki's Blog was voted best. See it at http://maki-myesldays.blogspot.com/ . Congratulations, Maki, on a job well done and best wishes for continued success in credit classes at MCC!

Students also made video resumes. Maria's video resume was voted best. You can see it on her blog at http://mysuccess-mary.blogspot.com/. Congratulations, Maria! Whichever company hires you will benefit from your experience and professionalism!

Spring 2009 -- Term 1

This term, VESL students contributed to their own wiki pages on a class wiki. Projects included a self introduction glog on Glogster.com (that included videos of students introducing themselves), a paragraph summarizing the results of a color career quiz, a PowerPoint to practice participial adjectives, a timeline project on Dipity.com, and a career research project.

Good work, MCC VESL students!
